Lions tear throught the Pirates 51-30
Southpaw quarterback Greg Holcomb had his best day as a member of the Leyden Lions as he threw for 228 yards and three touchdowns in a 51-30 victory over the host McHenry Pirates Saturday night.
The game was virtually over in the first quarter as the Lions (3-0 in the Mid States Football League) scored early and often after falling behind the Pirates (1-2) 3-0.
Leyden could do nothing wrong after gaining only seven yards on its first offensive possession and punting the ball over to McHenry, which eventually scored on a 39-yard field goal to take the lead. After that it was all Lions. Full Story
